SYF Reflection
Ok, have been doing lots of reflection since my last post, although i still get emo sometimes, my mood is visibly improved. Yep im volatile as concentrated hydrochloric acid, which Isaac tried to heat over the bunsen burner -.-
SYF is over, we got Gold with Honour! Although we were very happy, our mood was dampened by the fact that we had not played up to our usual standard that day, and conductor Zheng was very disappointed in us T.T looking back, although we may be one of the best youth orchestras in Singapore, we are not that great compared to professionals, as we lack the fluidity and ability to express well the emotion of the song. However, im still quite happy, and would like to tell all those CO members who are still emo-ing to be more far-sighted. Firstly, 10 years down the road u will remember it as a fond memory whether we got silver or gold with honours. Secondly, our achievements cannot be rated on 1 single performace, but on the highest level we can go, even though we didnt perform our best on SYF. Thirdly, what we gained was not just musical achievements, but also other important stuff such as fond memories from our hard work together, much growth and learning from this experience and so on. So dun go emo that we didnt perform our best that day, cos that's not the only important thing.
Personally, i changed much of my perceptions and attitudes after this experience, and made new friends like xiao wen =)Part of my change came from JJ, cos he was like working so hard for SYF, and others like him (e.g. Jia Yu and many others), which motivated me not to pull them down, and enjoy all the extra practices as bonding time =) He said something which quite impacted me: "in the first place if you want to choose it, might as well be committed to it. u made the decision to walk this path, and you have to continue no matter what happens." Yeah if my juniors read this they will probably go write an essay about my quoting JJ's words. But seriously, i just feel that his words are quite true lahs. Nothing personal (JT knows). Also, my juniors, especially CY, made me want to put in my heart and soul into this SYF cos she was like, encouraging me all the way. Lastly, after i attended SYF in P5, i never thought to have another go at SYF, so i want to see how much i can change.
So, many thanks to all those who encouraged me for SYF, especailly our seniors who baked us cookies and spamed us with cards, sweets, toys etc =p and CO members? Don't waste our last month or so together emo-ing, lets create the last memories together happily.
